Blood Cancers
Our Pediatric Blood Cancer Program treats all childhood blood cancers, including leukemias, lymphomas, and rare conditions such as juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML). The program offers advanced therapies, including bone marrow transplants and CAR T‑cell therapy for eligible patients.

Solid Tumors
Our Solid Tumor Program cares for children, teens, and young adults with solid tumors such as neuroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, bone and soft tissue sarcomas, Wilms’ tumor, and relapsed disease. Special focus is given to high‑risk, rare, and relapsed tumors, with access to clinical trials and specialized treatments.

Brain and Nervous System Tumors
Our Brain Tumor Program treats children with primary brain and central nervous system tumors. Specialty care is also available for genetic conditions that increase tumor risk, including neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF‑1) and schwannomatosis.

Hereditary and Genetic Cancer Risk
Our Pediatric Hereditary Cancer Clinic evaluates and cares for children who carry genetic mutations that increase their lifetime risk of cancer. Services include genetic counseling, testing, and coordination with other specialty clinics.

Pediatric cancer is complex, and your child deserves a care team working together at every step. Our specialists in oncology, surgery, radiation, rehabilitation, integrative medicine, and more collaborate to provide personalized care tailored to your child’s needs.

Through our programs, your child has access to precision medicine, CAR T‑cell therapy, and early-phase clinical trials. As Northern California’s only Children’s Oncology Group Phase 1 core site, we provide eligible patients the opportunity to participate in the earliest-stage trials for innovative pediatric cancer treatments.

Our Survivorship Program supports children and teens who have completed cancer treatment or a bone marrow transplant. We monitor long-term effects, coordinate ongoing care, and deliver personalized plans to support your child’s health, well-being, and quality of life.

  • Child‑friendly units and clinics designed for kids

Hope Through Innovation: Astrid’s Story

When 5-year-old Astrid was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), her family faced a frightening journey. At UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, her care team designed a precision chemotherapy plan that minimized treatment intensity and eliminated the need for radiation, using an advanced algorithm tailored to Astrid’s genetics, kidney function, and other factors. Today, Astrid has made a full recovery: Her immune system is strong, her checkups show no signs of cancer, and she’s returning to normal childhood activities.
